Hello everyone. Thank you for your interest in joining the group. Please know that there are THREE questions that need to be answered before I can accept your requests.
YOU CAN ALSO, share this website with your friends and family so they don't have to join the group ;)

It is a road about 80 miles long from start to finish. The highway winds through redwood trees, small towns, along/over rivers, small mountain passes and through narrow cliffside canyons.
Some of the highest points along the 199 are the Collier Tunnel that sits at 2,132ft and Hayes Hill that sits at 1,598ft.
When Snow levels drop below 3,000ft we could expect to see flurries in these two areas and even in Cave Junction (1,300ft).
Reminder, the Highway runs North/South.
In Sept 2023 the Smith River Complex fire started, creating a whole slew of closures, road work and delays at very specific times. In many facebook groups people Constantly asked if the highway was open and so forth. I'm going to be blunt, it was getting annoying as the answers were very easy to find. Very Easy but to those that searched

That's when I decided to make the facebook page so people could use the facebook group as a Resource.
The goal, to reduce the amount of questions while providing all the info needed in an easy to find location. Essentially a facebook group with Bookmarked websites.

I have some daily travelers that chime in time to time. There is actually another facebook page or two that I follow because they frequent the 199 and have updates as well. I often add them to the Comments of the current day/week and tag them. ;)
In the winter months, all of our feedback is really important.
So, Thank You.
This is something I started in the beginning and this is to keep the page organized.

These maps are interactive, meaning icons can be clicked on for information. Zoom in on areas too to get a better view of its general location. The CA Quickmap has many options that need to be turned on.
There are HOW TO videos on this site in the Highway Info Tab at the top of this page.

If you feel like it... I don't get paid to do this.
This website costs money as well. After 10yrs I figured I'd offer a way to contribute.
